The Pop Culture News Bulletin is a weekly roundup of the recent and trending news stories in the entertainment industry or stories that fall into the pop culture subcategory. Every Friday we feature stories that fit the content we frequently cover
In cancellation news, Peacock has cancelled The Copenhagen Test after only one season.
ABC handed out expected renewals for two of their crime procedurals, The Rookie (season nine) and Will Trent (season five).
In even more TV show news, CBS’ big unveiling includes another NCIS offshoot. This time, set on the East Coast and featuring the return of a fan favorite character. According to Paramount Press, LL Cool J will be back to reprise his role as Special Agent Sam Hanna and also now in the cast is Scott Caan, who likely takes on a new character with a brief descriptor calling him “a roguish special agent.” Presumably, Caan will play Hanna’s new partner in the New York office. Right now, the show follows the usual setting titling which is NCIS: New York. The show will begin this fall and join NCIS and NCIS: Origins Tuesday nights, with NCIS: Sydney moving to a midseason debut.
TV SHOW REVIEW | ‘MARGO’S GOT MONEY TROUBLES’ ADAPTS A POPULAR BOOK
If you were one of the few who watched and enjoyed the 5 and Playground Entertainment period production The Hardacres, the show will be back for a second season!
The second series will bring back its season one cast of Claire Cooper and Liam McMahon; Julie Graham; Adam Little; Shannon Lavelle; and Zak Ford‑Williams. New faces have joined the cast too though no official release date is given just saying that “dates for S2 will be confirmed in due course.” The first season of The Hardacres debuted on BritBox for U.S. viewers, which leads to the assumption that season two may also arrive there. Based on the photos, it looks like there may perhaps be a dash of romance too!
Speaking of BritBox, they unveiled a “first look” at season two of Ludwig. No official date (only “later this year”) is available yet, but there are a few images (below) courtesy of BritBox. Returning cast will include David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin and will also include new series regulars Mark Bonnar and Sian Clifford. According to BritBox, the second series will, in part, follow a story that picks up…
“from the end of season one, master puzzle-setter John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor (David Mitchell) is now a Crime Scene Consultant, working alongside DCI Russell Carter (Dipo Ola), on ‘impossible’ crimes for the Cambridge Police Authority. No longer having to masquerade as his brother, he’s openly more ‘Ludwig’ than ever – brilliant at solving puzzles but hopeless at everything else.” – via BritBox
Would you (supposing season two of The Hardacres arrives there) or will you (Ludwig season two) watch either one of these on BritBox? Share all of your thoughts below!
LIST | SOME OF THE BIG MOVIE ANNIVERSARIES OF 2026

All eight episodes of season one are streaming now on Prime Video.
The fourth in the franchise, Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller are returning to the Focker family movies in Focker-in-Law, which will add Ariana Grande to the cast and release Thanksgiving. The trailer is below.

I love the Little House trailer but where is Mary’s blond hair?!?!
I didn’t watch the trailer because I like to see things “blind,” but I’m hopeful that this one is good. :)
