A BAKER’S DOZEN OF THE MORE MEMORABLE MOVIE & TV SHOW KISSES

by

If you follow trending things on Twitter (I happily admit, I try to as little as possible), you may have noticed that this past week was International Kissing Day. So, here’s the thing, if you’re like me, you had zero idea such a things is even, well, a thing. These “days” often make me giggle (like a “funny holiday”) but also, a day like this, well, the romantic I am, and I’m just going to say, this day seems ideal for the kind of movies that are my favorites. So naturally, late though this is for the “trending” part of the week, I still have to share a few of the memorable movie and TV show kisses for International Kissing day.

LIST | 15 COLORFUL SUMMERTIME MOVIES TO WATCH AND ENJOY!

As a favorite romantic moment to feature, I love to talk about things like first dances, but rarely do I talk about the “first kiss” moment. Or really, not necessarily a first kiss, but just a good and epic kiss that makes you remember the scene. Some are quiet, but there can be epic in the quiet. Let’s take a look at some of the best kisses from film and tv over the years.

SOME OF THE MEMORABLE MOVIE AND TV SHOW KISSES

*First kiss, last kiss, or anything sweet kiss in-between, we’re all here for it!

1: ANNE SHIRLEY AND GILBERT BLYTHE from ANNE OF AVONLEA

I mean, who doesn’t love their love?

2: CHARMING AND SNOW WHITE from ONCE UPON A TIME

This one is a recreation of the iconic Disney movie scene and so it feels kind of like a “duty” to include this moment between this fairy tale couple.

3: ELIZABETH AND WILL from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END

We all love a good kissing in the rain moment, right?

4: ELLE AND NOAH from THE KISSING BOOTH
The Kissing Booth

I know the majority of people don’t like this film. I think it’s cute albeit one with problems, yes. However I’m just unplugging and enjoying it when I watch, and I feel like that something I can, thankfully, do for most films. Otherwise, honestly, there’d be very few I was like in a high percentile kind of way. Must admit, a kissing booth kiss is pretty cute. Find on Netflix

5: FANNY AND EDMUND from MANSFIELD PARK (1999)

I wasn’t going to add these two because I like to think I’ll put together a specific period drama list, however I feel like the moment between these two is pretty sweet. It’s got a bit of sass and disinterest but ultimately, it’s full on sweet.

6: JANE AND MR. NOBLEY from AUSTENLAND

The first kiss between these two happens while Jane is still staying at her immersive Austen retreat where Mr. Nobley is an employee (and a kind of Mr. Darcy caricature). It’s in her room and really pretty cute.

7: JOE AND KATHLEEN from YOU’VE GOT MAIL

I kind of feel as though I’d be creamed if I didn’t add this film (saying this because this isn’t my favorite movie). It’s not that their kiss is “epic” or unique, but rather that it’s one of those slow burn love stories that takes the entire film to peak. As a result, the kiss holds lots of meaning, plus it has honest weight to the relationship because they know each other better than most rom-coms.

8: JOSIE AND SAM from NEVER BEEN KISSED
Silver Petticoat Update, Edition One

It feels like a kind of obligation to add this moment to the list. It’s such a “big” thing for Josie and it’s also one of those big romantic gestures in movies that we don’t forget.

9: LORELAI AND LUKE from GILMORE GIRLS

This probably doesn’t rank high for most people, but I really love this moment for these two. It’s another slow burn romances that most often allots for fighting rather than kisses. (Something that precedes this kiss.) However, this kiss is just so Luke and Lorelai and that’s what makes it special.

10: OLIVER QUEEN AND FELICITY from ARROW

This season three opener kiss is memorable and heartbreaking (as is kind of their whole love story from what I read!). Still, I love these two so very much and think Felicity is all kinds of cute even though some of the time, I think she deserves more relationship blame (or equal anyway) than Oliver.

11: PETER PARKER AND MJ from SPIDER-MAN (2002)

Pretty sure this kiss is on all lists of epic or best kisses ever. I don’t remember all of the specific conversation surrounding it, but do also recognize that iconic upside down kiss.

12: STEVE ROGERS AND NATASHA from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Ok, so adding this one isn’t so much about the romance between the couple or moment, but more because these two are funny together in this sequel to ‘The First Avenger.’ However I have to add this scene just because it’s unexpected and fun!

13: SYDNEY AND VAUGH from ALIAS

One of my Instagram friends reminded me of this kiss, and it’s true. It’s a pretty epic one. Passion and adrenaline fuels it but it’s also something that has been building for quite some time.

Of course, I know I missed a lot, but hey, this will be fodder for a future list (including maybe one specific to period drama!!). What about all of you? What’s your favorite first (or last!) kiss between some of your favorite film or TV couples? Who do you like from this list? Who don’t you like from the list? Comment all of your thoughts below!

  1. My favorite will always be between Hawkeye and Cora in Last of the Mohicans. Daniel Day Lewis and Madeline Stowe.

    1. Someone else mentioned “Northanger Abbey,” and I didn’t include it for two reasons. One I NEED a re-watch and two, this gives me an excuse to create a second list about period drama! Oh! And I need to re-watch Chocolat, too. :)
