SOME FAVORITE BOOKS FROM THE LAST TEN YEARS
Onward we go with our ten year blog anniversary (or birthday?) celebrations to chat about some of the favorite books from the last ten years. It’s interesting to go back and look at the books I’ve read over ten years. Some have been instant favorites, and others are ones that, while I did love at the time, I wonder the “what” of exactly why I loved them (because they’re not a genre I love most). Still, taking a trip down reader memory lane is, for the most part, fun.

SOME FAVORITE BOOKS FROM THE LAST TEN YEARS #READERS #FAVORITEREADS #FAVORITEBOOKS #BLOGGING #BLOGGERS #READING Share on XWith some of the reads I’ve enjoyed in the past ten years, I have such happy memories of the books. This makes me wonder if I were to re-read the book if my feeling would be the same. This is partially why I don’t re-read (although the MAIN reason is I have too many unread books on my shelf) because I don’t want to spoil my memory of the book. As I put this together, I’m also trying really hard to include the books that I have fond memories of reading because those are like the comfort and nostalgic reads I love to think of.
So, with all of that in mind, I’m going to go through and try to pick out some of my most favorite reads or bookish discoveries in the last ten years.
SOME FAVORITE BOOKS FROM THE LAST TEN YEARS
1: THE RUNAWAY PRINCESS, HESTER BROWNE
Read: 2015
This one is just light-hearted, and happy reading for me. Does it have language? Sure. But overall, it’s a secular fiction where the cute (good) outweighs the bad. Goodreads
2: TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE, JENNY HAN
Read: 2018
You guys know of my fangirl love for this one. Enough said. Goodreads
3: BAREFOOT SUMMER, DENISE HUNTER
Read: 2013
Unfortunately I cannot remember the “what” in this book, but do know something about it profoundly affected me when I read it. Makes me realize that I should go back to re-read this lovely. Goodreads
4: RAPTOR 6, RONIE KENDIG
Read: 2014
Maybe it’s the uniform, but I remember being super impressed with Kendig’s excellent military series that begins with Raptor 6. Goodreads
5: THE SATURDAY NIGHT SUPPER CLUB, CARLA LAURENO
Read: 2018
I just remember thinking this one was lovely. I think in part it’s the close-knit friendships that make it so. Goodreads
6: ANNA & THE FRENCH KISS, STEPHANIE PERKINS
Read: 2015
Paris! Romance! Contemporary! How could I not enjoy it? Goodreads
7: SUBMERGED, DANI PETTREY
Read: 2012
Have to include this one because I still think her debut is one of Pettrey’s best, plus it reminded me how much I love the mystery genre (oh, also fun 10 year blog fact, this novel is also one of the first books I received from a publisher!). Goodreads
8: DEAR MR. KNIGHTLEY, KATHERINE REAY
Read: 2013
Another one I don’t wish to ruin my excellent memory of with a re-read, but also, I’m not sure that’s possible! Goodreads
9: THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY, MARY ANN SCHAFFER
Read: 2018
Waited for years to read this one, but it’s a lovely historical novel (and that’s something for me since I’m not a historical fiction reader). Goodreads
10: THE SECRET LIFE OF SARAH HOLLENBECK, BETHANY TURNER
Read: 2017
Had to include this one because I think for inspirational rom-com it’s a kind of step away from the normal and I’m HERE FOR IT. Goodreads
11: MEANT TO BE MINE (2014) & STAY WITH ME (2020), BECKY WADE
Adding Meant to Be Mine because of nostalgia (I loved its hero despite all of the dislike) and Stay With Me because I think it breaks down normal in its genre (and the author does it beautifully). ‘Mine’ on Goodreads | ‘Stay’ on Goodreads
12: LUCKY IN LOVE, KASIE WEST
Read: 2017
I’m not entirely sure that this is my most favorite West novel, however I do feel like this one gets more hate than normal, so I want to give it some love! Plus, it’s one of the three novels I read by her in the year (2017) I discovered her novels. Goodreads

I want to read Guernsey Literary Society so so badly! I watched the movie and loved it, but I think there’s the chance that I’d love the book even more! Such a lovely list, Anna and the French Kiss is a favorite of mine too ?
Anna and the French Kiss is something I loved way back when! The idea of re-reading it makes me nervous though as I feel like some books are the “best” they’ll be in my first impression memory. :) YAY! Hope you enjoy ‘Guernsey’ if you read it. It’s different than the film but I love both SO much.
