10 YEAR BLOGGING ANNIVERSARY: FAVORITE POSTS THROUGH THE YEARS

Pressing on in our 10 year anniversary quest, this time around, I’m looking at some of my personal favorite blog posts through these past ten years. (really, this is just a small collection because I had to “give up” sifting through everything; in ten years, a lot of content accrues.) Some of these haven’t been of interest to anyone, but I enjoyed writing them, so I think that’s important. At the end, I’ll also share some that are all-time popular posts because that’s what we’re here for – to look back!

LIST | 10 YEAR BLOGGING ANNIVERSARY: SOME OF THE POPULAR TRENDS OF THE DECADE

Lots of these are list or discussion publications, both of which I do enjoy. In particular, I love the idea of bring more of a discussion forum here on a more regular basis (meaning one a week or something) however while I “write” these in my head, when I sit down to write them on paper, I just cannot seem to get the words to come together good enough to be coherent, which is something I struggle with all the time. It’s a big flaw in my writing and something I’m aware of, but also something I probably haven’t worked hard enough at. I find when I try to conform to things it gets worse.

1: CASTLE, SEASON ONE

Castle, Season One: A New Kind of Buddy Cop Show, published in 2011

I “have” to add this one because I have SUCH fond memories of watching this for the first time. I loved the show SO freaking much and remembering binge watching more than one episode after “risk” buying the first season as a DVD set.

2: DOWNTON ABBEY, SERIES ONE

HAVE to include this one as I’m such a fan. Also for many nostalgic reasons, too.

3: OH SISTER! LESSONS FROM ‘IN HER SHOES’

(Published in 2011)

Gotta’ love writing about sisters, and also, this film (with Cameron Diaz) is way better than I anticipated.

4: NEVER BEEN KISSED

Never Been Kissed is the Best Sort of Rom-Com Nostalgia, published 2011

Never Been Kissed is one of my first film reviews here, and what a lovely one to publish. I love that it made the round as one of my first film reviews. This film is all kinds of nostalgia.

5: THE PROPOSAL

The Proposal: Sandra Bullock Has Never Been Funnier! (Published in 2011)

Another film I have to shout out! My mother and I saw it in theaters and we laughed ourselves silly. Still love it even today.

6: THOR

(Published in 2011)

Including this one because it’s the first MCU title I ever posted up in the archives. Of course the same year I also added Captain America: The First Avenger.

7: THE HOLIDAY

The Holiday (2006): A House Share and Unexpected Romance (Published in 2012)

This movie remains one of my most “cozy,” feel good kind of movies to this day. It’s just lovely.

8: LEAP YEAR

Leap Year (2010) – An Unexpected Irish Road Trip and Romance (Published in 2012)

This one catches a lot of flak, but I love it.

9: SHERLOCK, SERIES ONE

I mean how could I NOT include this epic modern BBC adaptation?

10: THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

The Devil Wears Prada is the Best of Smart and Sophisticated (Published in 2013)

I mean, this one is a CLASSIC! Love it so much.

11: PRIDE & PREJUDICE

Pride & Prejudice: Breathtaking Adaptation of the Austen Classic (Published in 2013)

I adore this 2005 feature adaptation. It’s just such a lovely story and adaptation and I’m HERE FOR IT!

12: WAR & PEACE

Loved this A&E miniseries which is shocking to me because I anticipated having the extreme opposite reaction.

13: WHY I DON’T LIKE ZOMBIES. AND THE ONE TIME A ZOMBIE MADE ME SMILE

Published in 2016

This may not be my “best” ever post, but its format (discussion about stories, deeper look at something) is one I have fun with. I just don’t publish things like this much.

14: ROMANCE ADAPTATION (SERIES)

(Published 2017)

I love writing these, and though it didn’t start out that one, my first was kind of a “one off” with Jane Eyre. Since then, I’ve put together a few others and am realizing I need to find another new one! Any suggestions?

PS; in 2017, I also finally watched, and reviewed the much loved 2006 version of Jane Eyre.

15: FANGIRL CONFESSIONS: ONE TRUE PAIRING REUNIONS TO LOVE

Love these kinds of fangirl-y posts! They’re always fun.

16: NORTH & SOUTH

(Published in 2018)

Love this 2004 mini-series from BBC, based on the Elizabeth Gaskell novel, so I had to include it.

17: 15 OF THE BEST (AND NOT SO GOOD) BOSS CHARACTERS

Gotta’ love some boss characters!

18: IS LITTLE WOMEN (2019) REALLY BETTER THAN THE FAVORITE FAVORITES?

I always find it interesting when I go into something anticipating loving it and also, seeing the mass audience reaction as positive, only to come out with a different opinion. Plus, I also like to write (more) about it when my opinion is drastically different. I feel much the same about my opinions on the 2020 adaptation of Rebecca which many didn’t like.

19: LEGALLY BLONDE

(Published in 2019)

This film turned 20 year old this year, and it just deserves a spot as a favorite thing to write about, am I right?

20: HOW TO WRITE A GOOD BOOK REVIEW

Published in 2021

Another medium that I enjoy writing (kind of discussion inspired pieces that take on a “how to” angle), but rarely feel “good enough” to put together.

21: MOVIE ANNIVERSARY (Features)

Published in 2021

Started this little feature this year and I’m having FUN with it. True these types of post are way more work than a review, but it’s still fun. So far things like Thor, A Knight’s Tale, Legally Blonde and The Princess Diaries (plus more) have all gotten a feature.

BONUS! LISTS

In a Nutshell, I think it’s safe to say, I pretty much enjoy most all of the list content created here. From wholesome romantic comedies to favorite OTP couples or favorite seasonal movies, I’ve got several of them. Search our ‘list’ content

I’m sure there’s more I could add, but during a portion of these years, many of my favorite things were not published on my website. As I result I decided not to include them here.
