POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION THIRTY-EIGHT

Right on the heels of its season one drop, Netflix has renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a second season. Looks like most of the cast will reprise their roles and this will be based on “book four” of the book series. Question is, have you seen the first season, and is it worth a watch? One needs to know.

On September 9, a limited release will take place for the 1950s period mystery, See How They Run. The film will have Sam Rockwell as a detective and Saosie Ronan will play an eager young constable. Its plot follows a stage production that is halted when members of the cast are murdered. So far, the film has a PG-13 rating so it could be a fun whodunit!

A brand-new still of Ken from the upcoming 2023 Barbie film is making the rounds, and many are commenting on Ryan Gosling’s platinum blonde ‘do as Ken, saying OG Ken was a brown-haired dude. Also, this is a ripped Ken past the photo crop, so I suspect women are loving that. Either way, it could be fun, and of course, we already saw Margot Robbie debut as Barbie in a prior image release.

Netflix is set for a new romcom with Zac Efron, Joey King and Nicole Kidman. The little teaser say it’s one is going to have “comic consequences” to kick off what will be a story about “a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity.” Hmmm… honestly, not sure this will be one I’ll enjoy. Predicting it’ll be one of those R-rated titles.

We shared yesterday, the news and trailer link for Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Jennifer L. Smith’s rom-dramedy Hello, Goodbye and Everything In-Between. What do you think of this one?

Oh, and on the topic of Netflix, they also dropped a trailer for their July release of Jane Austen’s Persuasion. Again I didn’t see it, but I have the trailer link here, and want to know, what do you think!?? We still have to discuss.

I was yesterday year’s old when learning that Chris Evans is the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the new film Lightyear. I mean… is this cool or no? Kind of feels like Tim Allen should still be the voice, and it’s not as if Disney isn’t working with Allen anymore given he’s set to lead the cast in their limited Disney+ series about his iconic Santa Claus character.

Paddington will return in Paddington in Peru, marking the third installment in the adorable live-action animated films.

What was informally known as Knives Out 2 is nowGlass Onion. Not sure if this is a legit title or not, but I guess it is. Either way, I’m underwhelmed.

Hallmark has a new series coming in 2023. Likely trying to capitalize on the success of modern westerns like Yellowstone, the channel will bring Ride to their screens, a generational story about three women in the Murray family. The teasers also say there’s a “web of secrets,” so we can expect drama don’t you think?

DW Entertainment debuted their newest film this past week, a western called Terror on the Prairie. It’s all kinds of raw and adult, but as always, very well produced and acted. Did you see it – and which of their film do you think is the best so far?

Speaking of Yellowstone, Josh Lucas will return to the upcoming new season five. Is it okay for me to admit I just still love him from Sweet Home Alabama?

Did you see any of these stories? Do any catch your eye? Are any things you’ll watch or stories to follow? Which of these were more interesting to you? Comment all the comments – let’s get the conversations going!
