LET’S GET TO SPRING CLEANING! SOME OF THE BOOKS I’M GETTING RID OF

Pretty sure I’ve put together this spring cleaning type post before. Ok, here’s the truth. In all likelihood I’m 99.9% certain I’ve already created a list like this. However since there’s no set topic this week on what type of list I should create, I’m going full in with the spring cleaning my bookshelf type theme.

This comes about for two reasons. One being it’s a reminder that I desperately need to unhaul my shelves – again. Secondly, I’m currently unboxing, listing, unlisting, packing up and also donating (hoping to find somewhere willing to take more than the two boxes my local library will accept) books currently. That is part of my current life. At least at this writing. But since the listing part is time consuming and I don’t sell books fast enough to make it always worth the time. Which is where we’re at with today’s topic. Despite these not being “recent” spring clean unhaul books, they’re still books I’ve taken off my shelf and therefore we’re use some spring cleaning inspiration.

SPRING CLEANING MY BOOKSHELF

PAPER ROSES AND SCATTERED PETALS, AMANDA CABOT

Read some of the historical novels by Amanda back in the day. Goodreads

BETTER OFF FRIENDS, ELIZABETH EULBERG

This has been on my shelf for an embarrassingly long time and while I think I read some really good reviews for it, I just cannot keep it around anymore. It, along with others, seems like one of those books I don’t really care that much about since I’m not reading it. Goodreads

WE WALKED THE SKY, LISA FIEDLER

This one always really appealed to me. Why I’m not sure but I did eventually pick it up only to have never read it. Just feels, at this point, like its best to sell or donate this one. But tell me, did you read this one? Goodreads

COLLIDE, MICHELLE MADOW

I really enjoyed Madow’s Transcend series (way more than I thought), so picking this one up was something I was excited about. However it’s just another of those I haven’t read and feels like someone else could enjoy whereas here it sits lonely on a shelf. Goodreads

MORE THAN WORDS AND SOMEWHERE TO BELONG, JUDITH MILLER

Pretty sure I never read these but I have read some by Judith Miller. Just never made time for these. Goodreads

WASHINGTON’S LADY, NANCY MOSER

Nancy wrote a few novels about historical figures such as Jane Austen and this, about Martha Washington. I’m not sure I’ve read this, but years ago, I did read the one about Jane Austen which I think I still have on my shelf somewhere. Goodreads

DAUNTLESS, DINA SLEIMAN

Pretty sure I read this one and I was SUPER excited about it. However I don’t think it’s a re-read for me, and I also own book two, so it’s one of those 2-book sets I have listed online. Hoping, whether it sells or goes in a donation box, it finds a home where someone enjoys. Goodreads

THE WEDDINGS BY DESIGN TRILOGY, JANICE THOMPSON

I read so many novels by Janice it’s not even funny. Back in the day, new books from her couldn’t come fast enough! However I kind of grew out of that style and since then, I’ve been able to pass one along to someone who loves her novels and am about to donate some. Glad I could enjoy them and now hopefully they’ll find someone else who will. Goodreads

SURRENDER THE HEART AND VEIL OF PEARLS, MARYLU TYNDALL

Not sure if I ever read these or not and I’m far too lazy to log into the Goodreads account I have (but haven’t used in MONTHS) to find out. Plus just because I haven’t rated it there doesn’t mean I didn’t read them. ‘Heart’ Goodreads • ‘Veil’ Goodreads

Have you read any of these? Would you? Which ones do you think I may have enjoyed? How do you spring clean your shelves? Comment all of the comments below. Let’s talk all the unhauling things.

    1. It sometimes is really hard. Other times it’s easy because I didn’t enjoy the book. But I’m getting better about deciding so I guess that’s a pro. :) Thanks for visiting, Terrie.

  1. I don’t recognize most of these books, but I have read one from Eulberg and it was fantastic. It wasn’t that one, though. Do you have a Half-Priced books or used bookstore close to you? They would take them. Same for donation places like Goodwill. Or maybe if you have a women’s shelter?

    1. I’ve heard good things about Eulberg’s books. I probably would enjoy it, but having some of these on my shelf for SO long just feels like I won’t get to them. I don’t have a half-priced book close. The one that’s closest doesn’t take donations. I need to check with Goodwill and a women’s shelter is a great ide! :)

  2. I have slowly started weeding through my books again, especially as more keep coming in, LOL. I have been getting rid of ones I KNOW I will never read again, and no one else in my family will enjoy. I think the Janice Thompson one looks fun, I have several of her books on my TBR. I don’t know if you have Little Free Libraries near you, but that would be another way to get rid of some of your books.

    1. I used to read SO many of Janice’s books! Most I own by her are ones I’ve read and while I thoroughly enjoyed them back in the day, they won’t be ones I reread. I sent one or two of hers to a booktuber I know loves her books, but I still have quite a few so I’m still plugging away at cutting back. I don’t think I have any Little Libraries around here. But I need to check because anything is helpful. :)

  3. I have a shelf and a half of books I have already read and know I won’t read again. I tend to share them with other people in my family, but I haven’t seen them since 2019 (thanks to the virus!!). So when we get together this summer I’ll have quite the stack to share.

    1. That’s awesome, Pam! Most if not all of my family don’t read or at least not the type of books I read otherwise that’d be something I would do too. I love the idea of sharing them with people who can enjoy them after I do. :)

  4. I’ve not read any of these. I did a clear-out of my shelves before I moved last year (since I had to get all the books out to pack them up anyway!) and I’ve managed to donate some, but I still have a rather full box just sitting in my room which I really should actually get rid of this year!

    1. For me sorting and getting rid of things that I no longer need or want is always the best feeling! Plus when it comes to books, it’s nice thinking that if I’m not going to read and enjoy, someone will find it and enjoy. :)
