POP CULTURE NEWS EIGHTY-NINE
One of the more popular Christmas movies with Hallmark, news was finally announced this week (after lots of teasing) that the sequel to A Christmas Waltz was in the works. Only there is a plot twist! The original starred Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp, and this sequel will not only have new characters, but a new home. This time it will debut on Great American Family and feature Jen Lilley and Matthew Morrison. Despite its change, will you tune in?
Speaking of Christmas movie fare, Alan Ritchson will play in the Amazon movie The Man with the Bag. Best known for his titular role in Amazon’s Reacher, Ritchson will play a thief in the film. Recruited by Santa, he along with Santa’s daughter and an elf must rescue the magic bag in order to save Christmas.
Departing from its original subtitle of ‘New World Order,’ the next movie in MCU’s Captain America series will now be called Captain America: Brave New World and is set to star Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford and will make its debut May of 2024. Will you be watching?
Following his latest project where he stars and serves as producer, Tom Holland says he’s taking a year-long break from acting. He says the project forced him to have or play emotions he hasn’t before and he needs a break now. The Crowded Room is an adult crime thriller that will debut on Apple TV+ later this summer.
According to one headline, Jenna Ortega says her titular heroine on Wednesday come season two won’t go in for “any romantic love interest” but rather lean into some horror elements. This is from an actors on actors conversation Ortega has with Dakota Fanning.
PBS is producing an adaptation of the novel The Marlow Murder Club. It will feature Samantha Bond who many of us may know from Downton Abbey.
Speaking of British TV, if you like it or Acorn TV productions, you may be excited to hear that Emilia Fox will return for a second season in Signora Volpe.
On the opposite side of good TV show news, HBO pulls the plug on their revamp of Perry Mason after just two seasons.
