The world is the same because of how the series connects (about brothers), but the story and how we get from point a to point b is different. All the usual hallmarks frequent readers of Wade’s novels know will find them present.
BOOK REVIEW | ‘THE DO-OVER’: A CHARMING YOUNG ADULT VALENTINE’S DAY ROMANCE
When I read Memory Lane, the first novel in this new series, Jude was instantly a character I loved. His story had some teased-out moments in the book, and it was the type that instantly piqued my interest; both as a story, but also just Jude himself as a hero. He was so interesting and seemed so good. Happily, he’s the same in his own novel, and is a character easy to instantly like and root on as being a good guy.
While some of the side storylines did feel as though they detract from the main plot, anything in the “b” story with Jude’s background is simply carryover. There are new threads though that relate to Gemma, and her character alongside a “mystery” about her family, too. By the time the last page turns, we’re happy and when it comes to reading, this is the feeling we likely all desperately want.
