NCIS FINDS IT YOUNG LEROY JETHRO GIBBS

After the “breaking” TV show news about an NCIS spinoff, the race was on to see who would play a certain character in the franchise’s NCIS: Origins story. Of course, this character is one of the originals from NCIS, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, made famous and likable by former veteran series star Mark Harmon.

The prequel series, which will follow Gibbs during his early days as an NCIS agent in his thirties will be played by Austin Stowell. The actor recently appeared in the miniseries A Friend of the Family, and played the lead opposite Lucy Hale in the film adaptation The Hating Game. The show will be narrated by Harmon and produced by Harmon and his son Sean, who previously played a young Gibbs in earlier seasons of the original NCIS drama. What are your thoughts? Is this a good casting choice? Who would you have cast in this iconic TV character role? pop culture news one hundred and twenty-eight

LAST THINGS

ABC is developing a new TV show for Tim Allen. The show is tentatively titled Shifting Gears. The show will, at the time, center on a widowed man who owns a classic car restoration shop whose daughter and her teenage kids move in with him.

Did you read the young adult historical novel The Davenports? If so, then you’ll be happy to know, it’s in development with Amazon Prime. The story, which centers on the wealthy Davenports who are “surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties.” It will follow sisters “Olivia and Helen, and their friends, are finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to.” Sounds like a smart move for Prime and Alloy Entertainment given the production of series like Apple TV’s The Buccaneers and the continuing success of Jane Austen themed stories from the likes of Hallmark.

If you were a teen who grew up on 80s comedies, it might be fun to know that the Tom Hanks comedy is turning forty tomorrow, March 9th! We celebrated with a little quiz, and adding a film review to our archives, too. pop culture news one hundred and twenty-eight

CBS’ latest drama, Tracker, which features former This is Us star Justin Harley is getting an early season two renewal. It had high premiere ratings and keeps that momentum going according to stats. It’s also, again according to stats by millions, closely following CBS’ other monster (for twenty plus years now) drama NCIS.

Have you seen any of these? Which ones did you keep up with? Which ones were annoying? Were there any exciting stories that we did (or didn’t!) discuss? Let’s chat in the comments.
