TEN THINGS I’VE WRITTEN THAT AREN’T ABOUT BOOKS

Writing about myself has never been something I used this space for. It never started out that way, and while there’s been some transition to that through the years, it mostly remains this way. I’m not someone who uses the internet to write about my life or as a kind of journal to put out my innermost thoughts. Still, this is a topic that allows the writer to share posts they enjoyed writing beyond just a normal book list. Which is why today we’re sharing three facts about the writer. In a manner of speaking.

TEN THINGS I’VE WRITTEN THAT AREN’T ABOUT BOOKS. Sharing some posts that aren't all about books. #Discussion #Opinions Share on X

What we’re really doing is sharing things I’ve written that are in a sense more personal. They’re not reflective per se of innermost thoughts, but they are things I observe in culture and my thoughts on them. They’re about topics or subjects that I think are important rather than just the normal film and book reviews or lists about pop culture topics. So unless I can think of interesting things about myself (very unlikely), I’ll just share ten of the discussion posts I’ve written because it shares my thoughts on subjects I have feelings  about.

TOPICS THAT I WRITE about THAT AREN’T BOOKS

topics we write about outside of books or film, or entertainment (though they often connect to them) are as follows:

  • Culture should Change
  • Relating to Culture
  • Social Media

POSTS THAT TALK ABOUT THESE SUBJECTS; things I’ve written that aren’t about books

here are some of the things I’ve posted that discuss these types of topics. we also have other similar topics or subjects under the ‘opinions’ tag, some of which need an edit!

  1. I want to read so many of these posts you’ve mentioned (and just came back to this page after reading your post mentioning “I Hate It Here” cos that’s also one of my favourite songs 😍 Great list!

  2. I love that you’ve written so many thoughtful and interesting posts. I agree so much with your Trigger Warnings post. We can’t predict how anyone will react to any particular story because different people will have different reactions, and I don’t like to think of authors not having the freedom to tell the stories they want to tell anymore. Thank you for sharing these!

    1. Thank you for taking the extra time to look at one! I really appreciate that and your visits here.

I understand and have sympathy for those of us readers who don’t want to read about certain topics (and I’m sure we all have some), but at the same time, this idea that an author has to *think* about what all of those triggers may be and consider the feelings of all those readers, well, that also makes me feel bad or uncomfortable. I think we have to strive to learn what works for us and what doesn’t and based on that, pick the books (the best we can) that will suit us.

  3. I really like your list this week, and the posts that you’ve chosen for it. I took a peek at a few of them, and I especially appreciate how you get your thoughts across, while not castigating the other side or telling anyone what to think or do. We all have the freedom to make our own choices, but I feel like these posts are our way of creating an opportunity to exchange dialogue, which is sadly lacking in the version of society we see on social media and television today.

    1. Having conversation or exchanging thoughts is SADLY lost today. Or it really feels like it, Leah. I’m not sure if it’s a generational thing or if its because we’re so used to “reposting” things and having our noses in a phone… I’m just not sure! Either way, we do seem to be unable to have good conversation, even if it’s to disagree. :) Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
