THE BOOKS THAT WILL HOPEFULLY CURE A BOOK SLUMP
When it comes to “book slumps,” I feel as though I’ve been in one for years. It’s also something I’ve repetitively said (yes, I’m aware) in too many different ways. I’ve never really defined it as any kind of reading slump because in reality, it’s more about, well, the perception. The fights on social media about Christian books (which I read when I was young) and whether a book is Christian; or the kind of “pressure” to read more than one book a month. Writing it down even seems silly because I know, no matter the number of books you read, or how you read (fast, slow, paperback, hardcover), well it doesn’t make a difference. The question we pose today is to share books to end a book slump. I’m going to share some of the books I like to think would inspire rapid page-turning, but will they help you?
TV RECAP | ‘THE GILDED AGE,’ SEASON THREE EPISODE EIGHT RECAP: THE FATE OF GEORGE RUSSELL AND A LOVE STORY!
THE BOOKS THAT WILL HOPEFULLY CURE A BOOK SLUMP. #BookSlump #TopTenList #BookList #TopTenTuesday #BookList #Reader #Readers Share on XMy lack of reading or perhaps feeling of a reading slump in no way means I don’t think there are amazing books in the world. It’s more about finding that true love of reading again. Sometimes I’m there and other times, it’s more chore than joy. When it comes to books, the kind of books that I love best are lighter fiction titles. As a result, instead of rigidly recommending books, I’m going to share some of this type of book on my list that I hope would inspire a breaking of the so-called slump situation! Let’s feature some fun reads!
BOOKS to CURE a BOOK SLUMP
THE BLONDE IDENTITY, ALLY CARTER
It’s probably just the fact that it has ‘blonde’ in the title, but something about this reminds me of Legally Blonde if it were a spy comedy. Something about this series from best-selling author Ally Carter just seems fun. If it really is, well, to know this I must crack open the book and discover the story! Goodreads
anything by SOPHIE COUSENS
I’ve read one by her and liked it so it’s time to read another one of hers! I think I own The Good Part and Is She Really Going Out with Him? Goodreads
WITTY in PINK, ERICA GEORGE
Adding this one may be a risk since I’ve not read anything by George, but I do own this one and just look at how cheerful it looks? It has to be an ideally fun page-turner, right? It sounds like it’s a love-to-hate trope about a hero that the heroine things is a “man-child,” but I’m hoping that she’s quite wrong (and assume she will be)! Goodreads
THE VANISHING STAIR, MAUREEN JOHNSON
When it comes to “easy” reading, my idea tends to be light and happy, but a good mystery once in a while is a solid choice, too. I read book one in this series and never read more so reading this, which would be the sequel, may be something I should do! It’s about a girl who attends a school where more than one mystery seems to find her. Goodreads

NOTHING LIKE the MOVIES, LYNN PAINTER
I read one of Lynn’s books last year (or was it this?) and did enjoy it. Since I have others by her, it would seem like others by her could make me eagerly turn those pages! Goodreads
the GEEK GIRL books, HOLLY SMALE
Loved these books SO much. I’ve said it a million times but they remind me of The Princess Diaries (the delightfully awkward-ness of its heroine) minus the royalty (in this it’s modeling). I read maybe three of the books, loved the Netflix / BBC show and am glad a second season is coming! Goodreads
TURN to ME, BECKY WADE
Why I haven’t read this book yet I don’t know. It may also be the only book I haven’t read by Becky. This said, her books also usually have some deeper things, but mostly they end upbeat so I’m adding it – plus I think a favorite author is helpful to anyone ending a book slump. Goodreads
anything by KASIE WEST
I’ve enjoyed her books as “easy reads” for years now. This in no way is meant as an insult since I adore simple and easy-to-enjoy stories that yes do have some drama but also just make it easy to get lost in. While I know Kasie’s new book is adult (and therefore going to be very different), I’m also going to give it a chance and I think I still have one or two of her ya books yet to read (Borrow my Heart, Places We’ve Never Been, and maybe another one too).
