In what is, by now old news, Hallmark made headlines in this post-holiday lineup with the announcement (that was expected) that When Calls the Heart would return for the fourteenth season. This is ahead of its thirteenth season which will drop January 4th. The press release also reveals that in this eventual season fourteen, coming to TV screens in 2027 (!!), former cast member Lori Loughlin will reprise her role of Abigail Stanton, appearing in six of the 12 episodes. The show focuses on Erin Krakow’s Elizabeth Thornton and her role as teacher to the children in Hope Valley along with her own journey as a mother. The show is (loosely) inspired by the Janette Oke novels. Keep an eye out here because a roundup celebrating the next season will be coming.
Kevin McGarry and Erin Krakow appear (above) in a scene from season twelve of When Calls the Heart.
CBS gave season two renewals to two of their freshmen (both of which are spin offs) dramas. The Morena Baccarin led Sheriff Country (spun off from Fire Country) and Boston Blue with Donnie Wahlberg, which the long-running Blue Bloods inspired, will both be back for second seasons. Sheriff Country cast also includes Matt Lauria and Christopher Gorham; and Boston Blue features Sonequa Martin-Green in the co-lead role plus Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Ernie Hudson, and Mika Amonsen in key roles.
The drama Ripple quietly dropped on Netflix this past week, and has become a popular review here. If you want to binge this interconnected drama about four strangers, all eight episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

I enjoyed When Calls the Heart.
It’s Hallmark’s most famous (based on renewals!) series. :)
