Making many headlines this week is the Olympic games and some of those headlines included Lindsay Vonn crashing which ends her comeback career; Norwegian biathlon skier (and a bronze medal winner), Sturla Holm Laegreidwent went viral for trying to win back his girlfriend after he confesses (on air!) he cheated on her; the USA team won gold in the combined team event for figure skating; and its ice dance team Madison Chock and Evan Bates made headlines leading up to their event. The USA teams have gotten a combined 13 medals (four of which are gold) so far across various events however it’s Norway that has seven gold medals!

PEOPLE and American Girl made the announcement this past week that best-selling author Fiona Davis has penned the first novel for adults which will follow one of its iconic characters, in this case Samantha Parkington. The novel will follow a 25-year-old adult Samantha in the 1900s as she is involved in women’s suffrage. Samantha: the Next Chapter is the title, and the novel will drop in October.

(As a side note, I saw a headline for this new novel that said “elder millennials” will be swooning; and I have to say, as someone who did collect AG things, I am a little offended by this headline.)
