In the biggest movie headline of the week, Netflix dropped a trailer for their upcoming adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, which is helmed by Greta Gerwig and features an all-star cast. The story is based on the novel by C.S. Lewis. The trailer has inspired controversy and praise. See the trailer below.

These all sound great! My mother-in-law gave me the complete original movie series, Love Comes Softly. It’ll be interesting to see this new adaption.
The new Hallmark series, Change of Heart, sounds like it will be a series to watch. Great cast as well.
Oooo! A new adaption of the Magician’s Nephew from the Chronicles of Narnia! This I for sure want to see! So from what I understand, the children of C.S. Lewis cut off the rights to Disney for continuing to produce the Narnia movie series they had started. Did Lewis’s children now give Netflix the rights to produce the movies? Also, what is the controversy around Netflix The Magian’s Nephew?
I loved the first Hallmark LCF movie. It made changes, but kept the heart of the story. The cast is good too!
And I’m also very curious about the new Hallmark+ series! Seems like it could be a good one.
I don’t know about the rights (how interesting that Disney lost them! I thought the first movie was really well done) for Narnia, but I would imagine Netflix has permission. This one is helmed by Greta Gerwig who was the Barbie director and so many commentators hated that because of its themes. For Narnia, people are hating it because it’s taking a very “modern” approach to the story with reported rock influence (and is, I think, set in the 50s). I’m still planning to see it but first I need to read the book! ;)
I’m really looking forward to the new Narnia movie – I hope my local movie theater gets it! :)
