RIP IT OR SHIP IT ROMANCE TAG: 2021 EDITION
One of my favorite types of publications to share or put together are those that make me laugh. The bookish tag, Rip It or Ship It is one of those things. This is why, despite the fact that it’s, in all likelihood, no longer popular, I have to put together a Rip It or Ship It 2021 edition!
LIST | 15+ FAVORITE “STAY IN” ROMANTIC COMEDY MOVIES TO WATCH!
Years ago I posted this to my Youtube channel, and it was something I had loads of fun putting together. (I won’t link said video because as fun as it was, it’s likely cringe inducing.) If you don’t know how this tag (also, does anyone know the original creator so I can tag them?), which as I say, is likely no longer “cool,” works, it’s simple. You collect a bunch of names and draw two then decide if you “ship” (like) them together or rip (dislike) them as a possible couple. In 2021, I decided to do an “update” of sorts for this tag, and in fact, have a new video set to publish tomorrow. In the meantime, I’m drawing new names to put together a version of this here as well. It’s probably way more fun in video form, but we’re still going to have some fun with it here, too!
Let’s see which possible pairings we could have if these characters would meet.
RIP IT OR SHIP IT 2021 EDITION
PAIR ONE: Felicity Smoak (Arrow) + Dawsey Adams (The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society)
Weirdly these two might be kind of sweet together. Felicity is the adorable geek character from the CW show Arrow whereas Dawsey comes from a wildly different world which is post WWII England. That said, as much as I could possibly see them together (both are kind and seem patient), I don’t know that they’d be the best match. Verdict: Rip
PAIR TWO: Lauren Bailey (Before I Called You Mine) + Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)
Full disclosure, I also have Darcy in my video because I accidently added his name twice. That said, I don’t think I can see these two together. In some ways Lauren reminds me of Lizzy Bennet (she knows what she wants), but I don’t see Lauren as being “right” for anyone (in an easy sense) since her plan is vastly different than meeting Mr. Right. Verdict: Rip
PAIR THREE: Oliver Queen (Arrow) + Genevieve Woodward (Stay with Me)
Oliver is definitely someone who always steps up and protects those he loves, and I think Gen is someone who, sometimes, needs this. She’s vulnerable in more ways than one and while I love who these two characters ultimately end up with, in an alternate fictional world, I could root for these two. Verdict: Ship
PAIR FOUR: Emma Woodhouse (Emma) + Josh (Young and Hungry)
Emma would definitely love to match make Josh, especially after the disastrous end that is his engagement. Putting them as a “together”? Nope. Don’t see that. Verdict: Rip
PAIR FIVE: Aven (Sons of Blackbird Mountain) + Billy Crawford (Burden of Truth)
Aven lives in the 1800s and Billy is a contemporary lawyer. Both have pasts that are fraught with emotional upheaval, and yet Billy always takes on the protector role. I think they might be interesting together. Now if only I could decide whether or not I’d want to see them in her world or his… Verdict: Ship
BONUS! Two Pairs Drawn from my First “Collection” of Names!
PAIR SIX: Prince Maxon (The Selection) + Sarah Hollenbeck (The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck)
This is an easy NO! I like Maxon and think he’s actually a pretty good dude, and while Sarah is an outward quiet, I just don’t see them as an “us.” Verdict: Rip
PAIR SEVEN: Giselle (Enchanted) + Bill Wong (Agatha Raisin)
Ok, here’s a secret, I actually ADORE the character of Bill Wong. I think he’s the cutest and kindest “sidekick” kind of character on TV in a long time. Also, as Giselle is equally one of the kindest, most concerned people in the movies, seeing them together could be fun, thus ending this on a positive note, which is my goal! Verdict: Ship
What about you; who would you put together from two completely different worlds! Would any of these characters make the cut for you? Have you met these characters and do you like or dislike them? Have you ever played a fun game like this? Comment all of your thoughts down below! Let’s chat.

I agree with you about Bill Wong. He’s the sweetest. He deserves someone amazing!
Right? I knew he and Agatha wouldn’t be “end game,” but I did think his crush on her was adorable. :) Here’s hoping we see Bill happily settled with someone if the show makes more episodes.
