TWELVE SISTER RELATIONSHIPS in FILM AND TV WE LOVE

You know those quirky or funny “holidays” that often seem like something made up that anyone can just tag on any given calendar date? Well, today is one of those days, specifically, it’s sister day. This inspired us to take a look at some of our favorite film and tv show sisters, even though we already have. This because we love spotlighting fun characters.

TWELVE SISTER RELATIONSHIPS in FILM AND TV WE LOVE. Spotliging some favorite fictional sisters from (mostly) TV shows on this #SisterDay. #SisterSister #Sisters #FullHouse #UglyBetty #List #TVList Share on X

About one year ago, we did share a little list of favorite sister characters, and longer ago than this we shared a list of sibling characters. While repeat is likely to happen, we’re going to try to feature some news one in addition to re-sharing some of our favorites because, well, that’s what we do best. Let’s meet these ladies.

FAVORITE FILM and TV SHOW SISTERS

ALEX and KARA DANVERS from SUPERGIRL

For a while I was really into this show. I did watch up until its finale, but did enjoy it, mostly for the more human connections and relationships, one of which is the sister relationship between Alex and Kara, and the way Alex always looks out for Kara.

BETTY and HILDA from UGLY BETTY

These two are hilarious. They don’t always get along (the fights are loud!) but at the end of the day, I think they’re in each other’s corner.

THE COOPER SISTERS from DATE MY DAD

Super short-lived, this UPtv show was really, very cute, and followed a widower with three girls who wanted to match him up with someone.

THE COVEY SISTERS from TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE

These are from movies, maybe the only ones I picked from a film, but we love these three so they deserve a place. Plus, since they feature in three films rather than one, it’s kind of like a “series” in some ways. Find streaming on Netflix

THE FOSTER and LAMBERT SISTERS from STEP BY STEP

These girls spend more time fighting than they do being supportive, but when they do, it’s fun to see.

HELEN and JENNY from ALL CREATURES GREAT and SMALL

Thiers isn’t a relationship that gets much of a nod or focus, but what little is here is lovely. They share an unbreakable bond through something terrible, and I think if the writer’s ever did want to, they could form this relationship into something really good and compelling.

HOLLY and VAL from WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU

Only watched a few episodes of this quite a while ago, but it was funny. It was a starring role for Amanda Bynes who plays a teen who comes to live with her older sister.

NIKKI and NORA from SISTER SLEUTHS

Oh, look! We found another movie sister pair to feature. This time from the Hallmark mystery Nikki and Nora: Sister Sleuths. I thought these two were interesting characters for the mystery Hallmark genre. They aren’t all “happy” and perfect, but yet we do really like them and root them on.

THE STONE SISTERS from QUEENS OF MYSTERY

If you like female led shows and don’t mind that they’re British, this series is good fun. It follows the three stone women, and the recent police graduate, Matilda, who happens to be their niece, all of whom solve mysteries.

THE TANNER SISTERS from FULL HOUSE

I don’t remember the original show so if I saw it, that would have been years ago. All I watched was some of the revival show Fuller House where sister Michelle (played dually by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in the original) was written out (off doing her thing) because the Olsen women weren’t available to play the role.

TIA and TAMERA from SISTER, SISTER

It’s been eons since I watched this and I keep meaning to watch another episode. Especially since I’ve binged watched Step by Step and watched some Family Matters too which are all in the same era as Sister, Sister. Plus who doesn’t love a fun sister relationship.

THE WALTON SISTERS from THE WALTONS

I watched this entire series (from first to last episode) for the first time several years ago and did enjoy it. The show is set in the 1930s and follows a big family. It’s very family centered which means even with disagreements, the bonds of family and siblings are strong.

How many of these women have you met? How many do you consider favorites? Which ones do you think have the most flaws, and the most to work through? Comment all the thoughts below.
