Appropriately part of their fall lineup of premieres, Fourth Down and Love is a cute story with actors’, fans seem to really like.
Fourth Down and Love (2023) Hallmark TV Film Review
Busy with her real estate business and raising a tween daughter, Erin Allen (Pascale Hutton) has a full life. Her daughter is busy with sports, both watching her Sunday favorite, professional football and playing flag football. Trouble is, the team she’s playing on is full of guys who don’t give her a chance to play. When she switches teams, Erin comes face to face with her past in the form of Mike Hanson (Ryan Paevey).
Home visiting family while his football injury heals, for Mike, Erin is the one that got away. She’s the girl who broke his heart. When Mike ends up helping his brother coach the team Erin’s daughter is playing on, they discover perhaps with a bit of compromise, they may get a second chance…

An omission from their story line up tropes (which often include chefs, executive’s and more), I’ve never understood why Hallmark didn’t produce more (though not overdone) football themed films. It’s a favorite pastime of America, and the one I did see from them with this theme is cute. This year, there is this and Field Day on their fall schedule so it would seem the theme was popular for their fall lineup.
The movie is cute. It has a cast that avid TV watched will like including When Calls the Heart’s Pascale Hutton and Ryan Paevey who played Hallmark’s version of Mr. Darcy in Unleashing Mr. Darcy. I liked them together and thought, as usual, Ryan is good in the leading man role. The film pushes themes of family and going after something for love, same is true of most of their scripts.
If you have, in the past, enjoyed Love on the Sidelines, or just like these types of cute and simple TV movie scripts, Fourth Down and Love is another one you’re sure to enjoy. It’s a cute flick even with some of its stilted moments.
