IF YOU LIKE ‘ANYONE BUT YOU,’ TRY THESE TWELVE MOVIES. Sharing a collection of movies you can try if you like #AnyoneButYou with #GlenPowell & #SydneySweeney. #Romance #RomanceMovies Share on XIf you didn’t read about or know about Anyone But You, you meet Sydney Sweeney’s Bea and Glen Powell’s Ben as a couple who have a cute meet cute (he claims her as his wife, and trust me, it is cute) that eventually turns into hatred of one another. Thing is, they must still be connected when Bea’s sister and Ben’s best friend end up marrying, and they end up having to be together far more than they ever anticipate. Below you’ll find some titles that have the same plot, and some that are different, but still perhaps have that “conflict” between the couple. Overall, most probably won’t enjoy these if you’re Gen Z and adore ABY. Still, we’re just here to have some fun, so that’s what we try to do. Let’s see what we find.
IF YOU LIKE ANYONE BUT YOU, TRY THESE
AT MIDNIGHT
I didn’t get the chance to finish this movie from Paramount because it was removed from the streaming service, but what I did see of At Midnight was cute. Keep it in consideration if it would pop up anywhere else to stream. (R)
THE HATING GAME
Lucy Hale features in this about a woman who ends up hating her co-worker in a film based on the novel by Sally Thorne. (The film is R, and likely very adult if that’s not your thing.) Stream, at publication, with Hulu
HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN TEN DAYS
An old film that probably the generation loving Anyone But You would hate, this flick features Kate Hudson as a woman who decides to pick up a guy for the editorial piece she’s writing about how to get a guy to break up with you. What she doesn’t know, is he too has an agenda. (PG-13) Stream, at publication, with Paramount+
MY FAKE FIANCE
This one is very basic and cute, and cheesy because it’s from ABC Family (prior to the Freeform rebrand). It features Melissa Joan Hart as a woman in need of a fake fiancé, and her co-star is Joey Lawrence, which is what eventually inspired their working together on the sitcom Melissa and Joey. (TV-14) Stream, at publication, with Fubo
PICTURE PERFECT
Jennifer Aniston stars in this 90s comedy about a woman who tries to impress her boss by faking a relationship. (PG-13) Purchase on places like Apple TV or Amazon
THE PROPOSAL
This one is just “classic” in a 2000s sense. It has Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds as a boss and assistant who must pretend to be engaged when it becomes clear that she needs this, and he wants her professional opinion on a novel. (PG-13) Stream, at publication, with Hulu. if you like anyone but you try these
SET IT UP
Long before he was “cool,” I loved Glen Powell in this Netflix comedy. It follows Powell and his office counterpart who plot to set up their bosses, in the process perhaps finding they have a spark. Also, yes, I know they’re tipsy, but the pizza scene is cute. (TV-MA) Stream on Netflix

This one is more action packed if that’s your thing, but features Jennifer Lopez as a woman about to marry in a ceremony that doesn’t go as planned when she and her feuding fiancé must face kidnappers on the day of their wedding. (R) Stream, at publication, on Amazon
SOMETHING BORROWED
Kate Hudson also features in this, and honestly, though I’ve seen this one multiple times, I don’t really like the people we meet. Maybe that’s a common theme with movies though? I don’t know. But whatever the case, this one is full of drama and a wedding and best friends (who become enemies) and cheating, and well, it’s a mess. (PG-13) Purchase on places like Amazon or Apple
THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU
This one may or may interest you if you like Anyone But You. It’s a very adult comedy, which I consider ABY to be, and features Lucy Hale as a woman who randomly almost hooks up with a guy she meets at a wedding. When they decide not to, they instead recount their (adult) romantic woes and troubles spanning the years. (The film rates R.) Stream, at publication, with Hulu
THE WEDDING DATE
Debra Messing plays a woman who hires a man to play her boyfriend for her sister’s wedding in this early 2000s comedy. (PG-13) Stream, at publication, on Starz
WHEN IN ROME
This one is very silly by comparison, but if that’s more your jam, you may enjoy the Kristin Bell (from Veronica Mars) led romance. There’s a destination wedding though the hate to love element is mostly missing, but still, it’s cute. (PG-13) Stream, at publication, on Hulu
