Anytime there’s a new series from quality production companies like Acorn TV, I sit up and take notice. One you won’t want to miss is the My Life is Murder Acorn TV series with Lucy Lawless, a mystery show that’s as entertaining as you have come to expect from this company. Here’s what it’s about.

My Life is Murder Acorn TV Review (2019)

Retirement and Alexa Crowe (played by Lawless) get on just fine. Or so she says. Some of her friends don’t exactly buy Alexa’s enjoying her new life… baking bread. This brings her old friend and former boss Detective-Inspector Kieran Hussey (Bernard Curry) to Alexa’s front door. You see, he has a cold case that he thinks Alexa can solve.

The case involves a woman who, at first glance, appears to commit suicide, but what if she didn’t? What if the man, a man with a questionable past, she was seeing is really involved? What if, there is more to this mysterious cold case than police believe?

Anytime I hit “play” on a series from Acorn, I know it’s going to be good. My Life is Murder is no different. It’s a fantastic detective mystery series that takes a different approach to the solving of each episode’s case. In this one, because of instincts and a sharp mind, like Alexa we know who the bad guy is in the beginning. The story then proceeds to allow Alexa to prove the how and why.

The formula is supremely entertaining, and its talented, all-star cast makes it more so. Lawless'(Xena: Warrior Princess) leading character is smart, savvy and easy to like. Slowly, details of her past peel away at the layers of her emotions, and the more we learn, the more curious we become.

In the end, My Life is Murder is brilliant television! A series that earns an easy ‘two thumbs up’ and deserves to be on your binge-watch list.
