RANKING THE 2021 ‘NEW YEAR NEW MOVIES’ HALLMARK ROMANCE
Normally I don’t rank Hallmark movies in the same year (with exception to Christmas) that they air let alone the same month. But with the rebrand of Hallmark’s winter romances and general love of writing about their productions, I figured why not. This then brings us to our ‘New Year New Movies’ romance rankings.
LIST | MORE CLEAN AND WHOLESOME ROMANCE MOVIES, PART 2
As January has five Saturday’s in this 2021 month, the network takes adventure of the air time, and put out five entirely new romance titles. Of course, this isn’t something you’ll find me complaining about. The thing I may complain about is having the painful task of ranking these five titles. How’s a girl to go about this task?
Here’s the titles I’m ranking: 1: A New Year’s Resolution | 2: Snowkissed | 3: Taking a Shot at Love | 4: Two For the Win | 5: A Winter Getaway
I’ll rank these from least to most favorite, but honestly, ranking these is HARD, I really did enjoy all of them, albeit for different reasons. Also, yes, I know my top pick is most everyone’s LEAST favorite. What can I say? I’m a moviegoer rebel.

Rankings from least to most favorite
5: Snowkissed
Cute and happy go lucky, I like that this one DOESN’T have a break-up! I am HERE for this more often and also find that this allows for the story to be more “mature” and beautiful. Jen Lilley plays a writer who tries to help a budding inn owner who’s trying to write a “script” to showcase his tour stops. Chris McNally co-stars.
4: A Winter Getaway
It’s somewhat movie painful to put this one here because, honestly, I did think this film was quite good (plus I like this trope). The story moves as a kind of fairy tale without actually being one, and I appreciate how this acts as a solid adult romance, without being inappropriate.
3: Two for the Win
I have some “issues” with this one (nothing major, just minor complaints), but I ADORE how this one ends up playing out. For example, I love that there’s no dramatic break up (!!), only support. I also love that our hero doesn’t have the heroine for his “big” life changing moment. I also like that he ADMITS what he needs to admit to Kay. It’s fabulous!
2: Taking a Shot At Love
Had to put this one up high because for one I LOVE seeing Alexa PenaVega’s Jenna try to teach Luke Macfarlane’s Ryan ballet. It’s too cute as is the fun little barbs the script makes at the romantic comedy tropes.
1: A New Year’s Resolution
This may not be the best if the five in terms of production (it was actually filmed in 2019 and meant to be part of that year’s Christmas lineup), but I wanted to see if for so long, and it features Michael Rady who I always like. Because of this, yes, I’m letting my “nostalgia” and bias for a favorite factor decide this, but I’m allowed this, right?
