PRETTY WINTER SCENES IN MOVIES
We’re fully ensconced in winter. From winter temperatures to winter holidays, winter landscapes to oversized coats, there’s no escape from it. We also have snow, at this time, piled everywhere, which means the ground is far whiter than it was over Christmas. As a result, we’re thinking about winter-y movies and the pretty winter movie scenes that we find in them.
LIST | HALLMARK’S ‘THE WAY HOME’ RETURNS FOR SECOND SEASON: WHAT WE KNOW
PRETTY WINTER SCENES IN MOVIES. Spotlighting just a few of the #Winter movie scenes. What's your favorite? #Snow #WinterMovie #Romance #RomCom #Comedy #Narnia Share on XThe goal with this collection is not to share all of the fitting scenes. Rather to showcase different types of films. So, some will be all about romance with that added romanticism through snowfall, while others will be just a pretty picture scene in the snow. I’m not sure what we’ll find or if we’ll be able to remember some without research, but we’re ready to dive in and discover this list or winter movie scenes.
PRETTY WINTER MOVIE SCENES
ps: we also have a list of Cozy Winter Movies if you want to check out that archive list!
BREAKING AWAY from FROZEN
Like other titles on this list, this film in its entirety fits on this list. But we’re spotlighting the whole ‘Let it Go’ sequence when Elsa leaves behind her childhood and goes to an icy palace believing she’ll live however she wants. You can stream, at publication, the film on Disney+; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
DISCOVERY from THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA
The first time the Pevensie children sees Narnia is quite magical, and though snow isn’t my thing, the setting is gorgeous. Of course, it’s Lucy who sees the land first, and her experience is equally magical. Eventually the snow becomes a kind of prison as many of the characters come to understand, but that first discovery is still a lovely scene. You can stream, at publication, the film on Disney+ or Hulu; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
HOLDING HANDS from A WINTER’S TALE
This entire film is appropriate to place on this list. It’s all the beautiful winter scenery and interesting characters, too. The film isn’t a favorite of mine, but I do appreciate the pretty we discover, and writing about it on this list does make me want to re-watch the movie just to rediscover that. You can stream, at publication, the film on Cinemax; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
THE HUNTING SCENE from NEW IN TOWN
This scene is ridiculous, but it’s also funny. And it always makes me laugh. You can stream, at publication, the film on Starz; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
ICE SKATING from SERENDIPITY
This one, for its genre, is kind of an iconic movie and beloved by some, though I don’t see this one getting the wide popularity that something like You’ve Got Mail does. Still, I’ve seen this one a couple of times and it’s mostly sweet. You can stream, at publication, the film on Max; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
THE REVEAL from MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
I recently re-watched the remake of Murder on the Orient Express, and while I don’t love everything about these Agatha Christie adaptations, I do think the final reveal scene in this movie is well done. It’s in the snow and features, like usual, the suspects gathered together, and the “look” of the scene is done very well. There’s a scene of two people having tea in the snow, too. You can stream, at publication, the film on Fubo; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
SKATING RINK from ICE PRINCESS
The scene where Teddy creates a rink for Casey is super cute and sweet. You can stream, at publication, the film on Disney+; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
THE SLEIGH RIDE from CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT
The sleigh ride scene from the classic 1940s Christmas movie is charming and sweet. Find on streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
TURNING BACK from THE HOLIDAY
The scene in The Holiday when she turns back may not be in the falling snow, although there is snowfall earlier in the film, but there is snow everywhere in this scene, so we’re including it, plus it’s a big deal for Amanda because she finally feels something. You can stream, at publication, the film on Netflix or Staz; and check other streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
WALKING HOME from WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING
This scene always makes me smile. It’s so cute to see the leading male character walk Sandra Bullock’s leading lady home, and for them to wind up at the end falling over and laughing. Find on streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase
WE MEET AGAIN from NEW YEAR’S EVE
There’s lots of snow in this Garry Marshall film, but one of the final scenes has all the romance with two people who barely make a date to meet again. Check streaming apps for in-app rental or purchase

I’ve seen almost all of these! Great list! When I saw the post title I was hoping While You Were Sleeping would be on the list. And yes, Serendipity is a cute and quirky film deserving of more love.
We have to include While You Were Sleeping! And also, I know I missed some good ones (there’s so many!) but I guess there’s always next time to remember those! :)
