SOME OF THE BOOKS WE LOVE, AND THE TV SHOWS YOU MIGHT ALSO LOVE
There are some books we’d love to see as a film adaptation or television show. Then there are some we want to see left alone, and as a result, instead we try to find other stories that are similar to enjoy. Today’s weekly list is looking at TV show recommendations for books. Whether we’ll find enough titles with passable matches, well, this is another story.
LIST | FUNNY ROOMMATE CHARACTERS FROM MOVIES AND TV SHOWS!
SOME OF THE BOOKS WE LOVE, AND THE TV SHOWS YOU MIGHT ALSO LOVE. Talking #Books and #TVShows because why not? #TopTen #TopTenList #BookList #TopTenTuesday #Reader #Readers #Reading Share on XThe task begins for us to see if we can find enough content to fill a list. Let’s end this already brief opening (because who always needs a lengthy monologue?) and see what we discover.
TV SHOW RECOMMENDATIONS for BOOKS
AGENT CARTER if you like VELVET UNDERCOVER
If you liked the short-lived ABC drama Agent Carter, then you may also like Velvet Undercover or vice versa. Goodreads
BLUE BLOODS if you like THE O’MALLEY SERIES
Book series like the O’Malley novels by Dee Henderson or the Blue Justice novels by Lynette Eason would be a good match with Blue Bloods. Or the former would and the latter, while it sits on my shelf, I still haven’t read them. Goodreads
COVERT AFFAIRS if you like BLONDE IDENTITY
If you like spy stories like Blonde Identity, consider Ally Carter’s Blonde Identity. I haven’t read Ally’s novels (though I want to!), but it seems like a story that is similar and could be entertaining. Goodreads tv show recommendations for books
JAG or NCIS if you like UNCOMMON HEROES SERIES
If you’ve read the Uncommon Heroes series by Dee Henderson, then you’d like Jag or the long running NCIS drama, then you may enjoy this series by Dee Henderson. Or there is Lynette Eason’s family cop series too, which I own but haven’t read! Goodreads
MURDOCH MYSTERIES if you like BACHELOR GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER
If you like light-hearted mysteries like Murdoch Mysteries, then you’d also likely enjoy Rachel McMillan’s Bachelor Girl’s Guide to Murder. They’re super fun detective mysteries about housemates in a Sherlock Holmes and Watson-esque style. Goodreads
RIDE if you like THE NOBLE LEGACY SERIES
If you’ve read and like Susan May Warren’s Noble Legacy family series, you may want to try the short lived Hallmark drama Ride. This is another one I haven’t read, but based on what I know, it seems like they’d match. Goodreads
WILD CARDS or PRIVATE EYES if you like FINALY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT or THE MAID
This one may be add since I haven’t read Finlay Donovan (yet), but the vibe I get from it is a (mostly) fun one that would fit with Private Eyes or Wild Cards. Finlay Donovan Goodreads • The Maid Goodreads

I like your spin on this prompt!
Thanks so much, Sara. :)
This is a great spin! I love the comparisons. I flipped it. Books that made great movies.
We love a good adaptation! My only rule is, I do *try* to read the book first or else chances are HIGH that I never will. ;)
Rissi,
I’m right there with you!!
It’s a challenge for sure. ;)
It can be. For my books I’d already read them so the movie was a bonus.
That’s fun! :)
This such a fun spin on the topic!
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
Thanks, Lydia! :)
I like your recommendations.
I hope they KIND OF fit. ;)
I love what you did with the topic!! I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned or watched any of these shows. I’ve been missing out!
There’s SO many books. And SO many shows, right? Way too many for any one of us to keep up with. :)
I love this post! I haven’t read or watched any of these, but you comparing them has my interest triggered.
I hope some fit well. ;)
Oh, I liked Covert Affairs a lot when I watched it!
Same! It was a fun one. :)
Agent Carter was such a fun show! As for Murdoch Mysteries, did you know the show is actually an adaptation? I LOVE the show and binged the first 10 seasons over lockdown. That said, I haven’t watched it since, which is sad because there’s been 3 or 4 new seasons since.

I need to catch up on Murdoch, too, Pam, and yes! Now you say that, I do remember it too is an adaptation. I’ve never read a book from the series though; have you? I’m always curious if the books are really different or if the show stays pretty true. For example, I feel like Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart is WAY different than the novels. :)
I like your tweak to this week’s prompt! I love Dee Henderson’s books. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Thanks! You too, Cindy. :)
This is a great take on the topic. I haven’t read Blond Identity, but I adored Covert Affairs back in the day.
I haven’t read The Blonde Identity yet either, but it does look fun and yes! Covert Affairs was so fun. :)
Covert Affairs was such a good show. Blue Bloods is great, too! I love how you did this list. Clever to pair books with movies. 😀
It was good and Blue Bloods is still a favorite of mine. I love that it’s “ordinary” (meaning it does usually have some big story ARC holding multiple seasons together nor does it end on cliffhangers) and yet still draws us in just because of its characters and the week-by-week cases. :)
I miss Agent Carter. I might have to try that book.
I do too. It was a good show. :)
This is such an awesome twist on this week’s prompt! I love when people can do the whole “if you like x try y” thing, because it’s a skill that I do not possess. I love the show Blue Bloods, so now I’ve got some new books to check out. And I’m going to have to watch Wild Cards or Private Eyes because I absolutely love the Finlay Donovan series – I’m currently reading the newest book and enjoying it so much.
I feel like I might fail at this because sometimes someone has asked me why I paired x with z. ;) But I still have fun with it. And I am SO curious about the Finlay books, so that may be a pair up I failed at since I haven’t read them yet. The shows are still fun regardless. ;)
I haven’t read or watched any of these, but this is such a fun take on the prompt! Great job!
Thanks so much, Dedra. :)
