THE POP CULTURE NEWS BULLETIN 210

The Pop Culture News Bulletin is a weekly roundup of the recent and trending news stories in the entertainment industry or stories that fall into the pop culture subcategory. Every Friday we feature stories that fit the content we frequently cover

If you loved the When Calls the Heart spin off, which ran one season on Hallmark and then its second on Great American Family, the show has been renewed by Great American Family for a third season. Currently being reported as returning under the title When Hope Calls: Brookfield, the show will tell more stories playing by returning cast Cindy Busby, Christopher Russell, Sarah Fisher, Nick Bateman, andTrevor Donovan. Currently the show is aiming for a first half of 2026 release.

A few weeks ago, which we did mention, Netflix had released “first looks” and a poster image for their January 2026 adaptation of the Emily Henry novel People We Meet on Vacation. According to the book’s synopsis, the story follows “Two best friends,” Poppy and Alex who, during “ten summer trips [must find] one last chance to fall in love.” The teaser trailer dropped this past week, which you can find below.

If you love the family dramedy, UPtv announced that it will be the U.S. cable home of the show’s 18th season on January 8. You can see the trailer and an image below. According to the press release, the show’s 18th year will present challenges both professional and personal as “Heartland’s future has never been more precarious. With new competition from a neighboring ranch, and a drought that threatens the health of the herd, the only solution is for the Bartlett-Fleming family to buckle down and adapt like never before. Amy’s work with horses continues to be her focus, but when she unexpectedly finds her heart pulled in two different directions, she’ll be forced to make a difficult decision.”

The previously announced line up of Harlequin film adaptations (in partnership with the CW) now have release dates. According to a CW press release, the first film, which is led by CW star Katherine McNamara will debut November 16 with the rest following the next several weeks. Those titles and dates are: SECOND GUESSING FATE, November 23; SAVVY SHELDON FEELS GOOD AS HELL, November 30; PAWS IN THE CITY, December 6; RECIPE FOR ROMANCE, December 13; ORDINARY GIRL IN A TIARA, December 20. Note; because of the network these will debut on, these will likely be TV-14 rather than the TV-G Hallmark movies rate.

Today the Taylor Swift album The Life of a Showgirl released, which is (naturally) THE big pop culture story from the past week. I always start my listen of it the night before (yes, I do order it soon as it releases to start the listen), repeat listen on my hour+ daily walk and listen some more while I drink my morning hot drink. We’ll be back today with some thoughts after all of those repeated listens. In the meantime, and by some off (off) chance you missed it, you can see Taylor in her self-deprecating director’s video promoting the album.

How many of these stories did you read about? Which ones did you see social media buzz for? Did we miss any big stories? Comment all of the thoughts below.

Thank you for visiting; please come back again soon

  1. Our family LOVES the show Heartland! Our oldest daughter has always loved horses since she was a very little girl. One day I happened across the Heartland tv series in our library’s movie section and thought our daughter would really enjoy watching it. We have been hooked on this show ever since. She was 13 then, and she’ll turn 31 in two weeks. She still loves this show. I can’t believe they’re in their 18th season! I hope this series continues for many more years to come!!

    1. How fun is this! It’s cool when you can still enjoy a story (book/show) in adulthood. Shows that the writers understand their audience has, in some sense, grown up watching this so they too “grow up.” It’s been a LONG time since I watched any of these, but what I did see was always lovely. :)
