THE AUTHORS I WISH WOULD WRITE ANOTHER BOOK (OR TWO!)
I think most authors I have read or do read are still writing novels. Some are more prolific than others, while some just release the traditional one-book-a-year. However, on occasion, if I look back at some of the books I’ve read there are authors I wish would write more books. To be honest, I don’t think I’ll find many that fit, but there will be a few to feature.

THE AUTHORS I WISH WOULD WRITE ANOTHER BOOK (OR TWO!). Sharing a short list of authors who I'd enjoy more books from. #Reader #Reading #Authors Share on XSome of these might be unfair because they technically did just release a novel, but it was a book a long time coming and feels like it’ll be a long time coming again. Even if these are authors who have written a book recently or haven’t, no matter the conclusion, there is always room for more great books so it’d be fun if we saw some of these authors write a new novel. Let’s discover which authors fit this category.
AUTHORS I WISH WOULD WRITE MORE BOOKS
JANE AUSTEN
I mean wouldn’t it be grand if there were a lost manuscript by Austen somewhere? Goodreads
SOFIE CRAMER
Having written Text for You (which the film Love Again is loosely inspired by), this novel is actually quite charming and something I didn’t expect to enjoy so much. I wish the couple were together more, but there is still depth to the story and I admire the emotional elements that the film adaptation loses. Text for You was also adapted in English since Cramer is a German author. Goodreads
JENNY HAN
Since her immensely popular To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, Jenny hasn’t really written anything. She is working on scripts for the Amazon TV show based on her Summer novels, but still, I’d like to see something new in novel form from her. Goodreads
JESSICA KATE
It’s odd to include Jessica on this list because, yes, she did just release a novel, but since there is no plan for another from her, I guess I’m preemptively including her on this list. Goodreads
CARMEN SCHOBER
I haven’t read the second novel by Carmen (yet), but admire that her first, After She Falls, didn’t follow the same normal and “safe” patterns for the genre its published in. So while I still have a novel to read by Carmen, she hasn’t posted on social media that she has more fiction coming which makes me think she isn’t writing novels just now. So that makes me curious about what might be next. Goodreads
KASIE WEST
Kasie is an author still writing, but she announced a while back that she would be writing her first adult novel, and while I am well past the target age of her young adult novels, it still makes me sad to think she’s an author leaving the YA market since there IS an audience for cute and genuinely sweet young adult romances. Goodreads
LORI WICK
I’m sure Lori Wick has no plans to write anything new as she has lots of books to her name and is now probably enjoying her life without all the hard work of pouring time into a novel. But she was probably my first “adult” author I read, and so her historical novels do have a nostalgic place in my heart. Goodreads

Linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl May 21: Authors I’d Love a New Book From (These could be authors that have passed away, who have retired from writing, who have inexplicably gone quiet, or who might jut not be able to keep up with how quickly you read their books!)
I haven’t heard of all of them. Carmen and of course Lori Wick. I adore Jessica Kate and will be sad if she stops writing.
I think Jessica is still writing, she’s just taking her time and is busy living life, which I thins is great. :) I’m so glad we have this new release from her, it was just, selfishly, a long wait and I think her next book will be long too. Her books are SO fun, too. :)
I find it so interesting when authors switch genres like that!
Me too! Sometimes it works well and other times I wish they would continue to write what they do so well. It’s kind of like the Taylor Swift Effect, only she achieved great success switching genres. ;)
Yes! I totally agree about Jane Austen, Jenny Han, and Lori Wick. Happy Tuesday!
All good ones to still enjoy today! :)
I’ve never read any of those authors. You know what that means – more on the TBR for me to check out! :-)
We love a well rounded TBR, right!? ;)
Great minds! I have Jane Austen and Lori Wick on my list, too!!! It would be wonderful to get a new story from either of these creative, beautiful storytellers. I can only imagine how Austen would deal with today’s woman in society. It would be a hoot. A Lori Wick story would be the perfect escape from today’s society.
I loved Lori Wick’s books! They were probably (well maybe Janette Oke), my first “adult” fiction reads so I have a kind of nostalgic feeling for them. Someday I do want to reread some and see if I still enjoy. And yes! An Austen novel today would just be so much fun. :)
Wow, I guess that makes sense about Jenny Han (she must be preeeetty financially healthy at this point), but still surprising. I totally understand that hope. Interesting about Kasie West, I’d be curious to see her adult novel. Deb Caletti did a couple of adult novels and then went back to YA, so maybe Kasie will too.
I will definitely be reading more about the novel Kasie is set to write… but I’m also sad, even if I don’t read them, she may not be writing YA anymore. There’s a market for that kind of cute stories. :) I hope there’s more from Jenny someday! I’d be curious to see what she’d write outside of her popular TATBILB novels. Thanks for visiting!
Like Jane Austen, none
I haven’t read anything by Austen, but I do like her stories as British productions! :)
I haven’t had a chance to read Jessica Kate’s newest book yet, but I am excited for it!! I used to read Lori Wick as well, but it has been years. I haven’t read all of Kasie West’s either, just a few. I hope you have a great week!
Same here, Cindy! Hoping I enjoy it though as I LOVED her second novel. So fun. Kasie’s are always super cute and I appreciate that she writes cute and sweet in the YA market. One day I sure would like to read a book by Lori again because I’d be curious to know if I still enjoy them. :)
I understand that!! But, at the same time, I am worried I would be disappointed. I might still have a book of hers on my shelves, maybe I should investigate, LOL!
Same here. That’s perhaps PART of why I don’t reread (I’ve probably reread, at least as an adult, under ten books), though mostly it’s because I have so many I haven’t read. ;) But yeah. Part of it is “fear” that the memory of how much I enjoyed a novel will tarnish. Sometimes that’s ok. But also, I think it’s okay to let that memory stand. :)
Another Jenny Han book would be fun!
I agree. SO. FUN! :)
As for me, I wish Linda Windsor, Deeanne Gist and Catherine Palmer would write more books!
I meant to add Linda to my list! Her books are, like Lori’s, titles I’d like to read again and see if I enjoy them as well as I remember. :)
I’d love more Jenny Han too!
For sure! They are so fun. :)
Great list! I hadn’t realized that Jenny Han hasn’t put out a book in a while, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a new book from her.
Right? Her books always entertain. :)
A lost Jane Austen manuscript would be an amazing find! I love Kasie West and I do love her YA books but I’m excited about her future adult books too! And you’ve got me curious about Jessica Kate. I’ve never heard of her but I’m intrigued!
Jessica’s books are so fun and entertaining. Her second novel is my favorite, and I need to read this new book by her too. I hope you enjoy if you read them. :) I’ll definitely read more about Kasie’s adult novel once details release, I just think I’ll also miss her YA styling. :)
