MAY AND JUNE 2023 RECAP: LIFE THINGS PLUS ROUNDING UP ALL OF OUR CONTENT

Why, hello, there! It’s that time again, time to recap all of the recent-ish content. This means we look at what we posted or talked about in the last couple of months. Plus, this month, we’re going to share a bit of things we’ve been doing in, well, life vs just pop culture. This particular two-month feature is for our MAY AND JUNE 2023 recap. We put these together as a way to look back at the happenings (usually only in the website’s life since I do nothing cool) and share what we enjoyed putting together.

Month six is gone which means Independence Day is here, and our 2023 is HALFWAY gone (!!). I know I am not okay with this. What about you?

LIFE HAPPENINGS plus WEBSITE THINGS

CONTENT RECAP: There are a lot of ways you can see all of the latest content. You can sign up for the RSS feed which sends you (in your inbox) our new publications on the daily. You can bookmark us, and visit for the daily new content or browse Pinterest. We post this, our six-time a year two month recap. Or you can now sign up for a once, twice max monthly content roundup. Just sign up here to receive it but make sure to complete the sign up steps. If you don’t see the email asking you to confirm, check your spam. In this we recap our content plus maybe share some lyrics or pop culture rumors (just for fun!) and we have limited Kindle downloads you can snag, too.

LIFE: This past month, I took another (WHO AM I!?) trip down south. Last year I went on two trips which were the first since I was seventeen years old (I won’t tell you how long ago that was). The trip had its ups and downs as each road trip does, but there were some really nice times, too. There were shops aplenty to visit; beautiful albeit hazy scenery to enjoy; and as a fun thing anytime I’m out of my usual surroundings (even on a day trip!), two stops at two different coffee shops. I’m not a coffee person, but do love those cold frappe type drinks. Unhealthy calories and all! What trips are you taking this summer?

READING: I’ve actually done some reading over the last few months which is reflected here if you search our ‘book reviews’ tag. For the first time in months some new to the website reviews show up. Most of the books added are titles I’d started to read WEEKS (AND WEEKS) ago so we’ll see if this transfers to reading a book I have to “start fresh” with.

»FAVORITE BLOG POSTS: MAY AND JUNE 2023 RECAP«

(Blog posts that, while not necessarily the most popular, were fun to write)

1: [JUNE] 30 YEARS LATER: ‘SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE’ ANNIVERSARY + QUIZ | Nothing like the anniversary of an iconic film to make one feel… well, mature.

2: [MAY] 20 BOOKS FOR SUMMERTIME POOLSIDE READING | Who doesn’t love a good summertime read?

3: [JUNE] ‘CANNES CONFIDENTIAL’: A SLEEK CRIME DRAMA FROM ACORN TV | Still trying to decide if I’m going to watch more of this new Acorn TV show. Did you watch it?

4: [MAY] THE DISNEY PRINCESS MODERN CULTURE REFUSES TO SEE | Probably an unpopular opinion, but whatever… I really enjoyed writing this.

5: [MAY] ‘GHOSTED’: THE APPLE TV ACTION COMEDY FEATURE | Not quite what I wanted this to be, but compared to another super popular adventure film from the last year, I did think this one is fun.

6: [MAY] IN DEFENSE OF ROMANTIC COMEDIES THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO COME BY | Because I still believe rom-coms aren’t the same.

7: [MAY] INSTAGRAM MADE ME DO IT: RANKING THE FLAVORS OF OLIPOP | This was quite fun to write up just because I rarely if ever write about things like this!

8: [JUNE] ‘MEMORY LANE’: THE FIRST BOOK IN A NEW SERIES BY FAVORITE AUTHOR | Because it’s a Becky Wade novel and you know I enjoy those!

9: [JUNE] ‘ONE TRUE LOVES’ MAKES A CHOICE BETWEEN TWO LIVES | I actually did enjoy this, my first novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, way more than I suspected. It’s not going to spark a reader love affair with her novels, but it was a solid read that kept me turning the pages

10: [MAY] ‘SHARPER’: A MULTI PERSPECTIVE APPLE+ TV FILM | Probably the first Apple TV+ film I’ve seen. Interesting… but not one I loved.

11: [JUNE] ‘THE WEDDING DATE’: CONTRACT ROMANCE REVEALS TRUE LOVE | A problematic rom-com in some ways, yes, but also one I do enjoy once in a while.

12: [JUNE] WEDDING DRESSES ON SCREEN THAT ARE PRETTY AND MOSTLY UNIQUE | This was fun though I know I neglected many I should have also made room for.
