15 MORE MOVIES TO WATCH FOR SUMMER RIGHT NOW!
Lazy pool days with a good book, trips to the beach and endless ice cream nights are here. With this new season’s arrival, we may not watch any movies or as many, or perhaps we’re creative enough to set up a pretty and relaxing outdoor movie night. But whether we do indulge a night in with air conditioning now and then or create other fun during these months, we’re still going to share a few of the summer movies to watch (and share where to stream them), just in case you find you have to fill a rainy night here and there.

15 MORE MOVIES TO WATCH FOR SUMMER RIGHT NOW! #Summertime #Summer #SummerMovies #RomCom #GoodMovies #GlenPowell #WheretoStream Share on XFrom vacations to disastrous wedding shenanigans, I’ve found a handful of titles that fit, and hopefully are also mostly new from any of our prior lists. Though I make no promises since I may reuse some titles from our list of five years ago (because recycling can be fun, too).

AWAY and BACK
I cannot remember what season this one is set in, but I feel like it looks a bit more summer-like (although I question my choice seeing as photos show characters in coats!). Plus, I wanted to add this one because alongside Jason Lee is Minka Kelly who just came off starring in the new Netflix favorite Ransom Canyon. According to its press site, this one is about a “a widowed father of three young children [and] a wildlife biologist, whose mission is tracking trumpeter swans, a family of which settle on a pond on the Peterson farm.”

DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA
Not sure if this totally qualifies as a “summer movie,” but in anticipation of ‘The Grand Finale’ film, I’m making this work, plus some of the Crawley family does head off to a summer house that Grandmother inherits where they play tennis and just generally look fabulous in 1930s “beach-like” attire.

EVIL UNDER the SUN, 1982
If you’re looking for a mystery, perhaps start with this. Based on an Agatha Christie story, this 80s adaptation had quite the cast. It’s a Poirot story about the famous detective staying at a beach front hotel and the different rivalries among the guests, which then leads to a sinister murder.

EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING
This one is set in the summer if I remember right because it has a scene with fireworks and is also about two teens who take off to see the beach. Plus yes this is based on the novel by Nicola Yoon about a girl coping with health problems that prevent her from going out into the world and living.

FIND me FALLING
Harry Connick Jr. stars in this flick about a fading musician who tries to find himself again only to buy a place that is a popular spot for suicide attempts! Sounds strange, I know. And in many ways this film does love its darker humor. But the setting of Cypress means there is some stunning shots of beautiful summer-y weather and the story has some depth even if it doesn’t always live up to its full depth potential.

FOUNTAIN of YOUTH
I saw someone on social media recently remark that this is a dumb movie and perhaps if I were taking a “master class” in how to tell a story or I wanted something super deep, I’d think this too. However, I am not and I went into this expecting and wanting a fun and silly adventure and this film delivers this tenfold. It has John Krasinski and Natalie Portman playing siblings who don’t exactly get along and their differing viewpoints on why their father did the work he did (archeology). They have to work together when Krasinski is hired by a billionaire to find the, you guessed it, Fountain of Youth. Again, this one is just fun, and if you like his creative work, it’s from Guy Ritchie.

HER ALIBI, 1989
Tom Selleck stars in this somewhat silly flick about a writer struggling with his next bestseller when a beautiful woman accused of murder walks into his life.

GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY
The sequel to Knives Out, this is not only an entirely new mystery where Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc is the only (that I remember) returning character, but it’s also set on an elaborate estate complete with scenic views and an impressive pool which the characters spend time lounging next to. Kate Hudson, Edward Norton and Janelle Monáe are some of the names who join Craig in this film.

This film is a Netflix title that is more about a father and daughter repairing their relationship, but it’s also about renovating a villa (not just the relationship) and a little side romance or two as well. Scott Foley leads the cast and while not something we haven’t seen before, the film is quite charming.

LOVE in the VILLA
This movie isn’t a favorite of mine when it comes to stories like this (it’s not new and copies many that came before and after), but it’s still a cute little summer-like watch that uses the hate to more romance trope. The plot follows two people who have a share a space after a double booking. These characters are played by Kat Graham and Tom Hooper.

MOTHER of the BRIDE
Brooke Shields leads this title about a woman who discovers that her daughter is about to marry the son of a man who once broke her heart. Miranda Cosgrove and Benjamin Bratt co-star in this cute, but ultimately forgettable romance – although yes, it still makes a fun watch on a warm summer night!

PICTURE THIS, 2025
A Prime Video exclusive, this one has Simone Ashley (yes that Simone Ashley) starring as a leading lady trying to get her business off the ground while her family has opinions on her life (or lack of) and choices. There is also the possibility of a new romance and return of a former flame, too.

SABRINA
I re-watched the 50s version of this love triangle (maybe before they were a thing) story that has Audrey Hepburn in the titular role playing the daughter of a wealthy family’s chauffer. Having been away in Paris for two years, she returns where she hopes the object of her crush (the family’s youngest son who is also a playboy) will finally notice her. Things get complicated when his older business-minded brother has to entertain Sabrina. The story is cute and fun and feels like summer with its outdoor parties. Plus, there is also a 90s adaptation that has Harrison Ford.

SUMMER MAGIC, 1963
Hayley Mills leads this film that says it’s about a wealthy Boston family who “relocates” to a cottage in Maine that is “dilapidated.”

TWISTERS
The classic Twister (with Helen Hunt and Bill Pullman) or the kind of but actually not remake Twisters (with Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones) seem like ideal summer watches. Some won’t care for these because they are about storm chasers and there is the danger of tornadoes always present, but overall I did think the 2024 film was fun.

THE WEEKEND AWAY
Leighton Meester is the star of this little-known mystery about a woman struggling in her life who travels to visit her best friend. When things go badly, and Meester’s Beth is accused of murdering her friend, she struggles to get anyone to care or believe in her innocence.

BONUS! summer tv shows to binge
if you don’t mind drama, then these three beach-set shows may be the ideal thing to binge-watch!
THE PERFECT COUPLE
Set at the wealthy estate of a wealthy family, the story centers on the wedding weekend of one of Nicole Kidman’s sons. Things are said, someone is found dead on the beach and the local police set out to find the killer among a very powerful and untouchable family.

THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY
Based on the novel by Jenny Han, this show has two seasons now streaming and will drop its third and final season (which presumably will follow its final novel We’ll Always Have Summer) on July 16th. It is also an ideal summer movies title even though it is a show. According to its first season press site, this show is about “a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship.” The story is pitched as being one about the character coming of age and the realities of “firsts” like a love story and heartbreak. It all culminates in what the presser describes as “the magic of that one perfect summer.”

WE WERE LIARS
A group of teenagers, three of whom are from an “American royalty” family, spend magical summers together on their private family estate. Then something bad happens to Cady during “summer 16,” and when she returns, still recovering from traumatic brain injuries, the next year she determines to find the truth of what happened to her. Based on the novel by E. Lockhart, this just released show is getting some buzz!
